In 1971, student protests and activity in politics led to the decrease of the minimum voting age from 21 to 18. We are at the forefront of educating students about the upcoming election and having them think for themselves.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate students primarily from Princeton High School on politics. It is often stated that young people neither know about nor care about their country; indeed, 80% of young eligible voters did not participate in the last presidential election. It is the goal of the PHS Political Awareness Project to excite high school students into learning more about politics and to reignite passions for the democratic process that has been historically so dearly fought for.

The vote is the most powerful instrument ever devised by man for breaking down injustice and destroying the terrible walls which imprison men because they are different from other men.
— Lyndon B. Johnson
